Kamrooz Aram's first solo museum show in Europe takes place at the Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens in Belgium.
The varied oeuvre of Kamrooz Aram (b. 1978, Iran) often deals with the complex relationship between traditional non-Western art and Western modernism. Through the use of a variety of media, including painting, collage, drawing and installation, Aram has found the potential for imaging that functions critically as a means to re-negotiate history. Aram complicates the relationship between ornament and decoration; he reveals the history of the ornament as an impulse towards the absence of figuration, in search for abstraction.
