Press Release

Carved in Time is rooted in the notion of attachment to place, an emotional bond that transcends physical geography. In this work, the artist delves into the vernacular architecture of the UAE and evokes the enigmatic history of ornamentation, creating an immersive sensory journey that carries the viewer across the successive transformations of her homeland.

The sculpture incorporates deconstructed motifs drawn from houses built in the 1960s, weaving together elements from diverse architectural forms. It reflects the rapid era of construction that marked the transition from meticulous design to mass production, while also serving as a tribute to craftsmanship, so often eclipsed by the pace of change.
