Antiphonies brings together works created by Hera Büyüktaşcıyan over the past four years, now presented in Greece for the first time following their initial exhibition at Arter Museum of Contemporary Art in Istanbul. Exploring themes of silencing, cyclical time, displacement, memory, architecture and nature, the exhibition sheds light on historical ruptures that emerge through personal and collective memory.
The title Antiphonies, referring to a musical dialogue between two voices, evokes a response coming from an opposing point, a sound travelling across spatial and temporal distances, borders and even absence itself. Within the exhibition, these antiphonies become an interplay between voices of the past and the present: fragments and traces of a long-erased reality that continue to inhabit memory and landscape, like two rivers, two opposing currents of time, engaged in dialogue.
