The Casa de Cultura do Parque, a cultural institution located in front of Parque Villa-Lobos, in the city of São Paulo, presents, Metrica Imprecisa (Inaccurate Metric), with Ana Mazzei, Débora Bolzsoni, Esvin Alarcón Lam and Renata Pedrosa, seeking to reflect on the relationship between contemporary production and the city, proposing dialogues and new possibilities for reflection on the theme.
With a critical text by Ana Avelar and artistic direction by Claudio Cretti, the exhibition presents works composed of materials from our day-to-day life, such as drawings, pieces of wood, fabrics, prints, electronic carcasses, objects and shapes, proposing a dialogue between art and the city, exploring the plastic and symbolic possibilities of matter and how they are articulated.
In Ana Mazzei's work it is possible to identify these elements through her interdisciplinary approach, and a constant search for new ways to materialize observation and staging situations. Using literature and theater as a reference, Mazzei creates objects and sculptures that are understood in relation to the body, questioning notions of orientation, positioning and organization, which guide the way we relate to space.
Although the execution methods are diverse, a common approach is shared, which is the use of materials found in the daily life of the city to create sculptural and imagery abstractions. Inaccurate metric explores, above all, the tensions and relationships between the body and the world, based on the symbolic use of form and language.
